Pluja Seca
Spain // 2011 //

Spanish/English with French subtitles
Pluja seca – dry rain in English – is what in Ireland they call the kind of light rain that evaporates before it even wets the ground. Something as elusive as the work of mediation. While ETA terrorist attacks appear never to let up in the Basque country, a whole team of mediators is busy in the wings, working with unshakeable passion and conviction. Some of them participated in the South African and Irish reconciliation processes. In January 2010, peace emerges as the victor from these long and patient negotiations: ETA finally lays down its arms – for good. Pluja seca celebrates the women and men who established negotiation as a response to the most obstinate violence.
