Tunisia, December 2010: a young Tunisian sets himself on fire outside local government headquarters. His desperate act provokes Tunisians to fury and triggers off a movement of revolt that will shake up the entire Arab world. Zero Silence is a poignant documentary made in the heart of the Arab revolution, which, from Tunis to Cairo’s Tahrir Square via Beirut, introduces us to four young activists who have long been standing up to corruption. Making use of social networks and in the name of freedom of expression, these four bloggers refuse to stay silent. Instead, they buck off the yoke of dictators, sometimes putting their lives on the line in the process. After two years of filming, the three film-makers offer us a galvanizing snapshot of the intense moments that radically changed the history of the Maghreb.
