Hongrie: la politique anti-Roms
Germany // 2012 //
Couleur // 22'
Hungarian/French
In Gyöngyöspata, a poor village in north-eastern Hungary, the Roma are the victims of all forms of discrimination and hit head on by the racism of an extreme right-wing mayor. The paramilitary branch of his Jobbik party spreads terror and imposes its brutal law. A close-up shot of a local reality, glimpses of a nationalism gone awry: Welcome to Viktor Orban’s Hungary. For, since 2010, as a worried but silent Europe watches, the head of the conservative Hungarian government has imposed his authoritarianism, silenced the press and ignored the rights of his fellow citizens. With one rushed administrative reform after the other, he has been implementing in great haste a populist policy which makes the Roma, once again, the scapegoats of the crisis and of fascistic ideology.
