TV Series - The manager of Kabul's only restaurant, pool and bar for Western expatriates manages to juggle crooked alcohol suppliers and drug-dealing warlords until his daughter - whom he hasn't seen for 20 years - turns up suddenly on a humanitarian mission!
Light-hearted, Kaboul Kitchen offers a disrespectful look at the strange creatures who congregate around international conflicts: soldiers, journalists, profiteers and NGO representatives. Unconstrained by the need for accuracy but based on real events, this TV series boldly takes on its subject and gets straight to the point: to make fun of humanitarianism. Some may be bothered by its caustic and slightly mocking tone, but the heavily overdrawn traits of its protagonists and its offbeat scenario do have the merit of making us laugh about a serious subject.
