Haiti: surviving the devil19:00 / Grütli Simon / Co-presented with MSF (Doctors Without Borders)
Apocalyptic scenes of thousands of cubic meters of rubble, hundreds of thousands of families in tents, no running water, no schools, no or very little reconstruction ... This is Haiti 2012.
Confronted with the human disaster that followed the tragic earthquake of January 2010, the international community took action and humanitarian and financial aid was rushed to the island.
Today, the country seems unable to recover. Still under international life support, Haiti is weakened by repeated political crises, by the country's non-transparent management and its paralyzed economy.
The scars of the earthquake, meanwhile, are still visible, intact. Sanitary conditions are alarming. Cholera is gaining ground. Human rights violations are numerous. Haitians are the prey of forced expulsions. Women and girls continue to live in fear of rape and sexual assault by armed men. MSF is sounding the alarm.
